Kookoo Kookaburra - Gregg Dreise

 A gorgeous colourful book about Kookoo, a kind and happy kookaburra. He is famous throughout the bush for telling funny stories. One day, Kookoo forgets to be kind and he tells stories that make fun of the other animals. Kookoo doesn't even listen to the wise words of uncle Googaguga...Kindness is like a boomerang - if you throw it often, it comes back often.

Gregg Dreise is a descendant of the Kamilaroi people from south-west Queensland and north-west New South Wales.  The youngest of eight children, he grew up in a family that valued sport, music and poetry, and was inspired to write by his mother, Lyla Dreise-Knox, who has been writing poetry for decades. Currently a teacher on the Sunshine Coast, Gregg was inspired to write Silly Birds by hearing the Elders saying that it was ‘hard to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys’.
