Painted Stone By Magpie - Pigface

This stone painted by local artist Magpie is representative of local bush food, Pigface. It measures 7cm x 5cm

Magpie is a well respected traditional songman for the Yugambeh - North East NSW and Gugu-Yalanji - Far north Queensland language groups and speaks 3 different Aboriginal dialects. Painting for many years now, he retells stories passed on by his uncles who were traditional storytellers, songmen and dancers. His self taught style came about after being given art direction form his uncles and also through the power of words, singing and storytelling.

Nature is a  very strong art teacher for Magpie and an endless inspiration. A highly creative artist Magpie also works with wood, shells and feathers to make original sculptures and hanging creations.

We buy Magpie's art directly from him and have had his beautiful work for over 12 years now.
