This handmade carving was created by Tim Ives in Byron Bay on the north east coast of Australia. Tim is a Bundjalung, Gummbaingirr man who shares his culture through his unique creations. They are made from recycled Camphor Laurel wood.
These "Brown Jacks" also known as "Birricks" are Australian Leprechauns. They are mischievous in nature and live under the ground covered by leaves and sticks. If children wander from their parents , the Brown Jacks take and hide the child away. The children knowing about them was used to teach them boundaries!
